DIRECT PUNCH & SEAL

With no need for conventional cap and screw thread, this unit can directly apply a hermetic seal onto containers or components such as vials, valves or closures.

Compact, efficient and built to suit your specific application, Relco’s Punch & Seal unit delivers bespoke capless induction sealing to OEM filling /assembly equipment.

Already being used globally, sealing a wide range of products from Chinese oyster sauce to injectable drug delivery systems. And hygienically super secure COVID-19 tests. This technology can be tailored to any sealing challenge.

A reel of foil passes through a cutting die, a ceramic punch is then driven down through the foil, cutting the required shape. The foil is held in place with a vacuum and the punch accurately places the foil onto the container. Our induction technology then heats and cools the foil at high-speed creating a super tight, super safe seal.

Our technology allows for complete control, that means consistency with every seal which is measurable allowing you to validate the complete sealing process.

We love a challenge and find solutions to the most perplexing of problems. We find that being involved early on in the design process means collaboration that leads to outstanding outcomes.

DIRECT PUNCH & SEAL

Key Facts

01

The seal allows for use of a wide range of different materials which may be difficult to handle as pre-cut.

02

Reel-fed machines typically allow for longer production runs between material changeover and lower unit cost.

03

It can be very difficult to accurately place a small/thin foil on a component then transfer it to a sealing station, the Relco Punch & Seal removes this problem as we hold the foil on the cutting tool (using vacuum) then transfer it directly down and induction weld it in place without ever letting it go.

04

Special applications can also be achieved using the Relco Punch & Seal for example placing and sealing foil onto a ledge inside a tube.

DIRECT PICK & PLACE SEALING

The pick and place approach means the cutting process is separate to the sealing process.  The advantage of this technique is that you can cut a wider a variety of shapes and materials while also being able to handle uneven container surfaces.

Our technology can integrate into any type of system. Our sealing heads are custom designed to suit any challenge that we are presented with, from single head indexing systems to high-speed continuous motion machines.

DIRECT PICK & PLACE SEALING

Key Facts

01

The Relco Pick & Place systems allow use of magazine-fed materials which can be delivered in lower MOQ’s and with a variety of different artwork whilst at the same time delivering all of the benefits of direct induction sealing.

02

As the induction head is at ambient temperature and can have the vacuum location inside, the head itself can be used to pick, place and seal a foil without any intermediate transfer step, improving accuracy and removing intermediate handling after foil application.

03

Use of pre-cut foils allow for a greater degree of flexibility in the design of the sealing system, that reduces the overall size and cost of the equipment.

04

The Relco Pick & Place systems are typically easier and more simple to integrate into a variety of different systems including retro-fit into existing equipment as a replacement for conduction sealing.
