Induction sealing and Lyophilized Bead Technology
Scroll
It is now possible to incorporate induction sealing into lyophilized bead technology with Relco’s induction sealing technology.
Case study
Here’s a little story about an automatic tube loader machine handling freeze-dried reagents that we created for Diagnostics for the Real World (DRW)
After a long time working in the life science industry, one day we received a call from our friends at DRW. They asked us if we could help them find a solution to improve their lyo-bead reagent production process.
The challenge?
Following the freeze-drying procedure, also known as lyophilization, the reagent bead is quite fragile, highly susceptible to static and very sensitive to airborne moisture. This needs to be handled within a humidity controlled clean room and an accurate and precise technology for handling of the lyo-bead.
The results?
We built a custom machine with the following characteristics:
1ï¸âƒ£ Gentle handling in the singulation bowl to prevent fragile lyo-beads from breaking.
2ï¸âƒ£ Automatic vacuum pick-up & handling by robot.
3ï¸âƒ£ Vision inspection to measure for dimensional conformance and to reject beads where craters are present.
4ï¸âƒ£ Precise loading into tube to prevent crushing.
5ï¸âƒ£ Induction seal of each tube individually.
